We are crossing the Atlantic Ocean!

Our Route and Links for websites related to our trip.

The flowers around the Vaury's townhouse are fantastic. The courtyard looks very much like any small community in Europe with tiny gardens and a tree lined path.

'Little Wing' a Beneteau First 30 will be our home for several weeks as we travel from Boston to Europe.

A Beneteau 351 sits next to 'Little Wing'. The First 30 was designed to cut through seas and travel with speed and grace through the swells.

Jean Vaury and Tom Debates are adding solar power to 'Little Wing'

We'll watch out for lows on the trip plus we'll have e-mail so we can get weather reports.

The floor boards now are latched and they can't fly around the cabin and cause problems in a storm.

We were invited to go sailing on a First 285 while we were in Chicago! Lash is a member of the Beneteau e-mail list and we had a fantastic time sailing on his boat (s/v 'Sea Jane Run'). If I didn't own a Beneteau First 285, I'd sure want one.

The fuzzy brush on the top of his mast helps drain off any static electricity. It's supposed to keep lightning from striking the mast. And, since his mast has never been hit, it works! We need to discuss this on the e-mail list a few more times. I still don't understand very much about lightning and sailboats...

The Chicago skyline at dusk. Thank you very much for a great evening on the lake.

Here ya go Lash! Photoshop is wonderful... Lash wanted us to put on the website, that if you visit Chicago, please let him know. He'll be glad to take other Beneteau list members sailing the sweetwater seas!

The sailing vessel 'Windy' sails from the Navy Pier in Chicago. You can pay money to work her decks when you visit Chicago. We didn't see anyone walk the plank, but we did get to hear the cannon fire.

The lighthouse in the distance marks the breakwater for the Chicago harbor.

The sun sets against a backdrop of places to go and people to meet. The park along the waterfront has beaches for swimming, paths for walking and cycling, benches for picnics and open space for people who live too close together. Just ask me about the traffic! I keep my boat in Ten Mile Tennessee where it's 10 miles to the nearest traffic light.
